Borvák Pincészet

Muzla (Muzsla)

The Borvák Winery is a place in Muzsla that makes you stop. It is more than just a wine-making workshop. More than a beautifully restored old cellar filled with wine. It is a place of honourable wines and precious human encounters, where traditional winemaking is as important as the wine made with the care of women’s hands. We believe that those who embark on the journey of getting to know wine will not only get to know wine better, but also themselves. Especially if you follow wine from the age of the tiny grape blossom. We spend most of the year tending our vineyards, trying to make wines that show the best of the Muzla terroir from the grapes that are put into the cellar as autumn sets in. We currently farm 4.5 hectares of vineyards in one of Slovakia’s best vineyard areas, on the top of the Muzla hill, also on its southern slope. The soil is volcanic, loessic, high calcareous clay, rich in minerals. This gives our wines the necessary acidity and minerality. Our vineyards are planted with varieties such as Olaszrizling, Riesling, Riesling from the Rhineland, Pinot Noir, King’s Daughter, Palava, St. Lawrence, Pinot Gris, Tramini and Cabernet Sauvignon. The cellar, built in 1837 and beautifully restored, offers wine tastings with almost expert seriousness or just relaxed and refreshing
